Rebel Tourists Face Jail After European Graffiti Spree

While some people back pack across Europe, Americans Jim Clay Harper and Danielle Bremner spray-painted their way through the Old World and are now facing time behind bars for their crimes.

Instead of letting Europe make a lasting impression on them, it seems Harper and Bremner wanted to make a lasting impression on Europe -- which is why the duo left their respective graffiti tags "Ether" and "Dani" on train cars in London, Madrid, Spain, Paris, Frankfurt, Hamburg and elsewhere starting in May, reports the AP.

But when the couple landed in the United States this week following their European tour of destruction, police officers were waiting for them with handcuffs and arrested them on graffiti-related charges in New York City.

A native New Yorker, Bremner, 26, caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to New York's transit system with her spray paint can, reports Dayton Daily News. The 26 year-old had reportedly been under investigation for nearly two years, during which authorities learned she was dating Harper, also a renowned member of an underground graffiti ring.

Harper, 23, has pleaded not guilty to related charges of felony criminal mischief and burglary after his arrest at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Arrested at O'Hare International Airport, Bremner was being detained in Chicago on Thursday, reports AP. If convicted, they both face up to seven years in prison.
