Receiving DW-TV abroad: Shall I take a satellite receiver with me or buy one locally on arrival?

You require a satellite receiver which is suitable for receiving un-coded signals from DW-TV or DW-RADIO.

Below are the links to the satellite footprints for the satellites used by Deutsche Welle. If you give this information to a specialist dealer he should be able to advise you which receiver is suitable for the area you are heading for. Another possibility is to buy the receiver locally when you arrive; this has the advantage that the local dealer can check that everything is functioning and should you need to claim on the guarantee, this is easier to do with an appliance bought locally. We also advise you to buy the antenna on arrival ( this avoids transport difficulties which may occur if a large antenna is required).

Unfortunately, the overwhelming amount of equipment available on the market, from diverse manufacturers, makes it impossible for us to recommend a particular set or antenna.
