Deanne hails from St. John's, Newfoundland, but grew up calling several different cities in Canada, the US, and Britain home. After completing an undergraduate degree in sociology, she went on to gain a master's degree in journalism from Stanford University. Deanne first joined Deutsche Welle in 1999, working for several years as a radio producer and host before making the switch to DW-WORLD's English team in the fall of 2003.
